Amazon s Worldwide Consumer Business Chief Steps Down

In a yet another high-profile resignation this week, Amazon’s Worldwide Consumer Business CEO Dave Clark has decided to resign from his position. The executive took to twitter announcing his resignation.

Dave Clark had joined Amazon straight after completing his MBA in 1999. He was key to Amazon’s expansion globally and growth of consumer operations. It is believed that the resignation came as a follow up to Amazon’s first quarterly loss in seven years, and a unionisation push.

“The past few years have been among the most challenging and unpredictable we’ve faced in the history of Amazon’s Consumer business, and I’m particularly appreciative of Dave’s leadership during that time,” Jassy said in a statement. “As we shared last week during our annual shareholder meeting, we still have more work in front of us to get to where we ultimately want to be in our Consumer business.”

Jassy further added that he would share about the company’s plans of succession in the coming weeks.

Dave Clark took to twitter to announce that he was resigning from Amazon. “I’ve had an incredible time at Amazon but it’s time for me to build again. It’s what drives me. To all I’ve had the honor of working with: thank you for making it so much fun to come to work every day for 23 years to invent cool, amazing things for customers,” tweeted Clark.

Clark had taken on the role of Amazon Worldwide Consumer Business CEO last year after the departure of Jeff Wilke.
