BETHANY BEACH — Growth at Marnie Custom Homes is what has kept Jon Subity engaged in his various roles in the company over the years and it’s exactly what brought him his new role – co-owner.
The 2022 NAHB Custom Home Builder of the Year announced Subity’s promotion on April 1. President and Co-owner Marnie Oursler and Subity say this move is just what the company needed to continue serving the Bethany Beach area.
“Jon frees up a lot of my time so I can focus on design. . . and the company culture. With my strengths, it’s such a good combination. Even ten years ago, I was focused on design and he was executing it. It’s kind of similar now, where he’s focused on daily operations and I’m focused on the vision of the company,” Oursler told the Delaware Business Times.
Subity started as a project manager for the beach-based company more than a decade ago, working his way up the ranks to the vice president role before his promotion to co-owner. Along with his experiences in the industry, Subity also touts prestigious awards such as the “Master Builder Society” and “Excellence in Customer Service” from his time with NV Homes. That versatility will go a long way as he helps lead Marnie Custom Homes, he told DBT.
“Marnie and I both have the experience of doing every job in the company. I think that’s unique and beneficial to Marnie Custom Homes. We have the benefit of being able to relate to the challenges and successes of each one of the positions that the company has because we’ve done those positions before,” he said.
That will prove helpful, Oursler told DBT, as the company continually sees improvements to Sussex County through new restaurants and businesses, and a larger workforce to pull from as more people move to the area, creating a steady demand for their services.
Oursler told DBT that the experiences he continues to bring to the company will be instrumental as the company grows.
“Jon has been an invaluable asset to our team for over a decade, demonstrating unwavering dedication and expertise in every aspect of our business. His promotion is a testament to his hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence. I look forward to our continued partnership as we lead Marnie Custom Homes to even greater success together,” Oursler said in a press release.
“I’m incredibly excited and honored to take on this new role as co-owner of Marnie Custom Homes,” Subity added in a prepared statement. “Being part of such a dynamic team and contributing to the growth and success of the company is a dream come true. I look forward to continuing our journey of crafting exceptional homes and making lasting impressions in the Bethany Beach community.”
