MILFORD — While anticipating opening its fifth walk-in center, Beebe Healthcare has opened lab and imaging services at its future location at the 10th Street Centre earlier this week.

Beebe Lab Express in Milford will offer a variety of resources from simple blood tests to more complex testing. X-rays will also be offered to patients.

“I know our team is pleased to expand our service offerings for everyone in the Milford area,” Beebe Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President Rick Schaffne said in a statement. “We want to deliver superior access and patient experience to those who are in need of our team’s care – whether they are in Milford, Milton, Millsboro, Millville, or any of the various Beebe locations throughout Sussex County.”

Beebe Healthcare plans to open a walk-in center in the three-story medical arts building this spring. Expected services will also include treatment for eye and ear infections, sinus infections, sprains, rashes, among others. Minor prescriptions could also be refilled there.

The idea is that the future walk-in center and the lab and imaging services could also support Beebe’s family medicine practice in Milford. The city is known as a rapidly growing area, with the city expected to have a population of 14,132 between Kent and Sussex counties by 2040, according to the Delaware Population Consortium.

The 10th Street Centre, built in partnership with Silcato Development and Gillis Gilkerson, was built to keep in mind the growing need for medical care in southern Delaware. In mid-2020, Dennis Silcato told the Delaware Business Times that he had the building 50% leased out, and envisioned space for primary care doctors, a physical therapy center and a coffee shop on the first floor.

The 10th Street Centre construction was completed in July 2021. As of today, tenants include Bayada Home Health, Phoenix Physical Therapy, as well as Southern Delaware Medical Group.
